Tigercat just launched the updated 850B processor, and it’s a solid step up from the previous model. The big news:
14% more power — now at 187 kW (251 hp).
That means quicker feeding, better response, and less slowdown in heavy wood.
Tigercat didn’t just turn up the horsepower. They also cleaned up the hydraulic system, so the boom is smoother, faster, and more efficient. Operators should feel cleaner cycles, better multi-functioning, and improved fuel burn — which is always nice on long days.
Even with the power bump, the 850B is supposed to run more efficiently. If that holds up in the real world, that’s a win for anyone trying to keep fuel costs under control.
