About Grapples
A grapple is a hydraulic clamping attachment that grabs and holds logs, brush, and other material. It is one of the most common attachments in the forestry industry — you will find grapples on skidders, loaders, excavators, and dedicated grapple trucks.
Log grapples are designed for round wood — they have smooth jaws that grip without damaging the bark. Brush grapples have tines or teeth for grabbing loose material like limbs and tops. Sorting grapples offer more precision for organizing logs by size or species at the landing.
CAT, John Deere, Rotobec, and Pierce are the most common grapple brands.
